As a translator of Italian literature since 2001, my focus has always been on novels and short stories but, over the years, I have also translated non-fiction articles, gamebooks, children’s literature, marketing material, and works of creative non-fiction from Italian to English. Occasionally I translate samples and write reader’s reports for editors and literary agents. I am a long-time member of PEN America, ALTA, and STRADE. I was born in Paris, grew up in Beirut, Jeddah, London, and Boston, lived in New York City for 15 years, and am currently based in Italy. My first name is Gaelic (pronounced Oona), and my last name is Czech.
